Ruth Hardy Park, Palm Springs
On Saturday, October 20 over 2,000 walkers and 100 volunteers will come together from cities across our valley to participate in the 31st annual Desert AIDS Walk -- one of the most visible and talked about experiences in the Coachella Valley. Notable for not only its size, the Walk attracts a diverse group of participants dedicated to making a lasting impact in their community. People of all ages, races, and backgrounds come together each year in massive, powerful, and inspiring demonstration of compassion and action to raise funds for Desert AIDS Project (D.A.P.), a federally qualified healthcare center that more than 10,000 of our neighbors will call their healthcare home by 2020.
You see, Desert AIDS Project uses the roadmap developed during the AIDS crisis to ‘Care for Everyone’. D.A.P. has a wonderful history of community members identifying a need and funding the innovative solution. Today, almost half of the patients and clients at D.A.P. do not live with HIV, many are your neighbors who live 200 percent below the federal poverty line and simply need access to compassionate and comprehensive healthcare. Please join my fundraising efforts today. Donate now and you can help make a difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS while helping bring an end to the epidemic.
With each step we take and each dollar we raise, we can test more people, bring more people who are HIV positive into care, and move one step closer to an "AIDS free generation".
