2018 Desert AIDS Walk

Ruth Hardy Park, Palm Springs

On Saturday, October 20 over 2,000 walkers and 100 volunteers will come together from cities across our valley to participate in the 31st annual Desert AIDS Walk -- one of the most visible and talked about experiences in the Coachella Valley.  Notable for not only its size, the Walk attracts a diverse group of participants dedicated to making a lasting impact in their community.  People of all ages, races and backgrounds come together each year in a massive, powerful, and inspiring demonstration of compassion and action to raise funds for Desert AIDS Project (D.A.P.), a federally qualified healthcare center that more than 10,000 of our neighbors will call their healthcare home by 2020.

The Desert AIDS Walk has made it possible for D.A.P. to provide their patients and clients with an unparalled range of services:

  • Medical and Dental Care
  • Medications
  • Housing
  • Transportation Assistance
  • Behavioral Health Counseling
  • A community center providing 20 support services including skills-for-living and return-to-work training and much more.

You see, Desert AIDS Project uses the roadmap developed during the AIDS crisis to 'Care for Everyone".  D.A.P. has a wonderful history of community members identifying a need and funding the innovative solution.  Today, almost half of the patients and clients at D.A.P. do not live with HIV, many are your neighbors who live 200 percent below the federal poverty level and need access to compassionate and comprehensive healthcare.

Please join the FUNdraising efforts today, register to walk and recruit your friends.  Donate now and you can help make a difference in the lives of thousands of our neighbors while helping bring an end to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
